YES and NKSA Reach Out To Ethiopia

North Kingstown Soccer Association had a goal in 2011 to develop a 'soccer community' in Rhode Island. They wanted to break down the barriers between soccer clubs in their area and invite them to join them in achieving their goal. The NKSA Board wanted the focus to be on Soccer in RI, not individual club successes.

In November of 2011, YESAmbassador Stuart Green, along with the NKSA Board Members worked diligently to arrange a 'Soccer Fun Day'. The even was organized with two main goals:

  • Create a sense of Community amongst soccer players, parents, coaches and teams within the Eastern RI area
  • Collect as much soccer equipment and apparel as possible to donate to the Lt. General Hailu Kebede Primary School in Ethiopia

Players, parents and coaches attended the event from around the soccer region, and following the soccer, equipment and apparel was collected, boxed and shipped to Ethiopia.  We are pleased to report its recent arrival!  The children at the school now have brand new Legea Soccer Balls, NKSA Game Jerseys and Youth Elite Soccer Dri-Fits to use on a daily basis out on their field of dreams.

YES is proud to have a partner like NKSA and coaches like Stu Green.  They believe in building soccer community and they have a heart for players from underprivileged backgrounds.  We have already started to plan for the 2012 event and plan on making it bigger and better.  Please contact YES if you would like to help!
